For over two decades, Aitor Saraiba has been working across drawing, textile art, and ceramics. His work has been exhibited worldwide, from Los Angeles to Tokyo, as well as in Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, across the African continent, and in numerous cities throughout Spain.
Saraiba’s textile practice explores traditional techniques, integrating them into his singular artistic universe. He revives heritage wool-processing methods—working directly with his flock of sheep in the mountains where he lives—alongside botanical dyeing, mending, and darning techniques.
He is the author of several books, including El hijo del Legionario, Nada más importa, and El libro de la crisálida. In his latest release, Zurcir el cielo, he explores his textile journey, seamlessly merging autobiography with the creative process.
In 2022, El País awarded him the ICON Artisan of the Year Award for his achievements in textile and ceramic art. That same year, the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha recognized him with the Regional Merit Distinction for preserving traditional craftsmanship within contemporary art.
He has collaborated with major cultural institutions—including the Museo del Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Matadero Madrid, MUSAC, La Casa Encendida, La Térmica, and the Museo del Traje—alongside various global brands.
